The Bears are fortunate to have local sponsorship for our branded clothing in the form of the Devonshire Arms, run by Nicky Marsh and Mike Johnson.
The Devonshire Arms is a traditional pub on the Bear Flat, and has been the social hub of after match revelries for a number of years. It hosts The Bears’ monthly management meetings, and provides a central meeting place for members past and present. “The Devi” as it is affectionately known, has hosted many an end of season celebration for The Bears and has been integral in keeping the post match cameraderie going.
Nicky and Mike have run the Devi for eight years now, and this is their first pub together. They love living in Bath and the variety running a pub brings. They are great supporters of the Bears, and have sponsored the branded clothing for the last three years. The Bears bring to the Devi light-heartened banter, and the Devi gives the Bears in return quiz nights, barbecues and so much more. Although Mike is a rugby supporter, he has been known to frequent the outskirts of the outfield at the Glasshouse, and Nicky in the past had one of her weaker moments and agreed to do teas.
The Devi recently hosted the annual Bear Flat Cricket Club Quiz 2018, which was well supported by nine teams, with the honours going to Team Fish (official team name not able to be reproduced here to protect the innocent), comprising of Frankie Curran, Nicola Heath, Chris Bence, Pop Larkin, Matthew Letts and Mark Gunning. We look forward to the rematch in 2019!
