The Saturday XI travel to the quintessential Cotswold market town of Malmesbury for this Saturday’s fixture, famed for being home to James Dyson’s ‘vacuum cleaning’ empire. The Bears won both fixtures during their Championship winning campaign of 2017 thanks to a combined (8/36) from Shreyas Malhotra and a superb (71*) from Simon ‘Rimmer’ Porter in the away game – a game the writer of this piece still doesn’t know how we won!
The skipper is able to welcome back the mercurial talents of Rob Wilson, Mike Smyth and Jack Mainwaring, all of whom will add extra depth to a sometimes fragile batting line up.
However, he is still without; (1) Harry Cadbury (managing a 5000 acre estate on the Scottish Island of Mull), (2) Tony ‘Big T’ Deoliveira (he’s alive, I’ve seen him), (3) George ‘My Boy’ Ellis (thinking of a new injury to get him out of playing cricket!), (4) Shreyas Malhotra (visiting Slovenia on a cultural exchange – the Malmesbury batsmen are going to be gutted!), (5) Simon’ Rimmer’ Porter (finishing off his ECB Level 8.75 coaching badge), (6) Michael ‘Shezza’ Sherring (having a weekend on the nest), (7) Michael ‘Colby City’ Colbeck (back to his day job), (8) Paul Wood (back strain), (9) Charlie Samler (filling ‘The Tin’ up……… even more!) and (10) Lloyd Katz (working on his faster ball).
Any support would be most welcome. POST CODE: SN16 9JX
