BFCC v – Swindon NALGO – Saturday 18 May – Match Preview

The Saturday Bears welcome Swindon NALGO to the Glasshouse for this weekend’s Wiltshire League Division 2 fixture.

The Bears played NALGO twice during their 2015 title winning campaign beating them twice, the home game was to turn in to BFCC classic after a 3 run victory. After scoring 220 (thanks to another Chris Bence 100 – he also scored 124 in the away game) NALGO needed just 5 runs from the final over…..Jay Morris was to stand up and be counted that day taking absolute steepler at long on to win the game. I still remember the complete ecstasy the team unit felt that day when Jay took that catch, feelings like that are very far and few between.

The skipper is able to welcome back 5 players into the team for the visit of NALGO. Veterans Wilson and Bence return to bolster the batting line up after working so hard in pre-season, Mainwaring and Morris  return from their jaunt to the ODI and big South African Tony Deoliveira returns for his first league game in over 2 years.

However, he is without the sub-continental trio of Malhotra, Ahmedani and Deora who all have exams on Saturday. I really must write to the Vice Chancellor of Bath University to insist they don’t have exams on a Saturday afternoons in the cricket season….ridiculous! He is also without the services of the injured Michael Sherring, Brendan Bester and Matty Johnson. Finally, he has to do without the express services of George ‘My Boy’ Ellis who is at his best mates BIG 27th birthday in London.

Please do come up and support the boys and enjoy a slice a cake…..we have Sunday captain Damien ‘Vivian’ Cull on duty this week so a sumptuous spread is a sure thing.
