At a suitably notable birthday of late, Comms Officer Fi Isaacs employed the talents of Dave Morris, Chef de Party, at her home in Chilcompton. Dave came up with a sumptuous Greek tapas menu, all served using fresh ingredients, everything made from scratch, with Dave explaining each dish, how it was prepared, and the relative ingredients. Not so much a dinner party but a cookery master class!  If you have a special occasion looming, please consider using Chef de Party – you won’t be disappointed.

After 33 years cooking in his own kitchen at the very successful Tilleys Bistro in Bath, Dave Mott (Motty) planned to hang up his apron and retire. His retirement was short lived however. A yearning to get out of the pan and into the fire, so to speak, compelled Dave to reinvent himself as Bath Chef de Party. He now provides private clients with bespoke menus cooked and served at their own premises. Menus come in all shapes and sizes from buffets to lavish dinners. All dietary requirements are covered and catered for including Coeliac, Vegan, Pescatarian etc.. On Valentines Day in 2017 he cooked a romantic meal for two at a private house in Farmborough, and in February this year, by contrast, he cooked a 3 course meal for 49 at a Masonic Hall in Beaminster, Dorset, As is the case with all good Chefs Dave sources as much produce from local suppliers and farms as possible and is passionate about using seasonal produce in his menus.

Dave moved to Bath in 1970 with his family. The family home was in Kipling Avenue on Bear Flat. Dave has a long association with Bear Flat CC starting way back at the turn of the millennium. Although he has turned out to play for the team when times were desperate ……. really desperate, he is better known for his contribution as Club Sponsor and for winding up Liverpool fans. At the 2017 Annual Dinner, Dave was awarded with the prestigious ‘Life Membership’ award, only the fourth award ever to be presented, and describes what receiving the award meant to him. “Frankly I’m not usually lost for words, but on this occasion I was. I just didn’t see it coming, I did wonder why my kids were there! I felt very humble and honoured to receive the award. It means an awful lot to me and now sits on a table at home by the front door so I get to see it everyday”.

Dave has always been a great supporter of The Bears and has been on several club tours as well as all the annual dinners since 2002. At the annual dinner in 2016 Dave offered his Bath Chef de Party services as an auction prize; an at home dining experience for 6 people. With three club members bidding furiously for the ‘dinner of a lifetime’ Dave called a halt to the proceedings at £250 and said he would honour all three bids. Taking away the food costs this auction prize raised a total of £600 for the club funds. One of the dining experiences was cooked up at Longleat, although Dave as the consummate professional is tight lipped as to whether Lord Bath was in attendance.

During his career Dave has cooked for many celebrities, actors and sports stars. Now known as an international man of mystery his most recent foray abroad was to the French Alpine ski resort of Les Brevieres,Tignes, where he was cooking for 8 racing car drivers, photographs of which can been seen on the Bath Chef de Party page on Facebook. So from Tilleys to Tignes, Bath to Beaminster if it’s good food, style and elegance that you are looking for, you need venture no further than our very own Bath Chef de Party.
