Match Preview – Box – Saturday 4 May (Home)

by | May 1, 2019 | Archived

The Saturday Bears welcome the good guys from Box to the magnificent looking Glasshouse on Saturday for their first home game back in Wiltshire’s 2nd tier. It was with Box whom the team were relegated with last year after a tough season for both sets of players. The first encounter with Box last season was postponed, however, the Bears were able to record a rare ‘2018’ win when Box visited the Glasshouse in early September. Their 204/3 was based around another dull Gunning (61) and a swash-buckling (84) from Bence. In Box’s 177/9 it was Bence (it’s hoped that Bence can go back in to bowling retirement this season) again with (3/17) and University of Bath’s Sreyas with a stunning (3/14).

The skipper is able to welcome back bags of ‘experience’ in the form of BFCC veterans; Bence and Wilson who ‘somehow’ missed the trip up the M4 last week! Both of whom will add greater depth to the ‘once’ fragile batting line up.

However, he is again without a glut of players. Both Ashwin and Shreyas are holidaying together in Bali, Brendan Bester is fixing stabilisers to his racing bike, Mike Sherring is nursing a broken finger, Simon Porter is doing his Level 1000, Paul Wood is working, Jon Heywood is drinking Thatcher’s Gold somewhere and Tony Deoliveria is wrestling Sloth Bears in the Midsomer Norton countryside.

Please feel free to pop up and offer your support at any time, we have Peter ‘Pete the Purse’ Wood on tea duty so a dishful of delights are bound to be on offer.
