The Saturday XI welcome current Division 2 titleholders Potterne II to the fortress Glasshouse this Saturday in a mouth-watering game between two current Champions. This will be the first ever meeting between the two clubs, however both Gunning and Wood have played against Potterne with their previous club, Bath Civil Service, and expect a very competitive game from an outstanding new team to the league.
The skipper is almost able to name an unchanged team (a novel experience) with Bath University first XI player Joe De Souza coming in for the capable Tom Harris who has Science homework to complete.
The Bears continue to be without the express bowling services of George ‘My Boy’ Ellis who is visiting the West coast of North America for the month of May, (I wonder what injuries he’ll come home with?!), Michael ‘apolitical’ Smyth who is at an affordable housing conference at the new Holburne Park development on the Warminster Road, Tony ‘Big T’ Deoliveria – “please phone me Tony” and “Simon ‘Rimmer’ Porter” who is on his Level 6.5 ECB cricket coaching course – we look forward to some new warm-up games! (Everybody loved ‘Hungry Hippos’.)
Please do make every effort to get up to the Glasshouse as we embark on our title defence, all support really is most welcome. We also have tea lady Simon Cox ‘Coxy’ on duty so a veritable spread is bound to be on offer.
